Alabaster Praise: was a poem originally written in 1984 describing the story of Mary washing Jesus feet with priceless oil and wiping them with her hair. This story is linked in the Gospel of John with the story of Lazarus being raised from the dead.  As I wrote the words and music to Lazarus, I felt compelled to included the story of Mary in a "suite" of linked songs. Alabaster Praise is the result of Lazarus' raising, the convergence of deep gratitude and the real knowledge the Jesus is God...Such was the demonstration in the raising of Lazarus with the fitting and proper result of true worship acknowledging His goodness and power.  The results of the study and meditation on this passage profoundly shaped my image of ministry. The song is summed up in the phrase, "extravagance compelled, where the gift is measured by the portion withheld".
